Fire breaks out at Ukhiya Rohingya camp

A fire was broken out at a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Friday morning.

Mohammad Shamsuddoza Nayan, additional commissioner for refugee relief and repatriation, said the fire originated at the Tanzimarkhola Rohingya Camp No. 13 in Palankhali Union around 11:30am and spread the adjacent area soon. 

Being informed two units of fire fighters from Ukhiya Fire Station rushed to the spot and are trying to control the blaze.
He said that the cause of the fire has yet to be confirmed.

Officer-in-charge of Ukhiya Police Station Md Shahim Hissain has acknowledged the matter and said the Cox’s Bazar and Teknaf Fire Service stations have been informed as the fire is not yet under control.
