50 homes, shops gutted in Ukhiya Rohingya camp fire

A total of 50 houses and several shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at Ukhiya Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar on Friday morning.

Additional Commissioner of Cox's Bazar Refugee Relief and Repatriation Office, Shamsud Douza Nayan, said that the fire originated at Tanzimarkhola Rohingya Camp No. 13 in Palankhali Union around 11:30am and spread the adjacent area soon.
Later, five more units from Teknaf and Cox's Bazar district headquarters reached the spot and brought the flame under control around 12:45pm.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

The official said that APBn, police, Red Crescent and various organizations have started rescue operations at the spot. They are working to determine the cause of the fire and damage.
