At least eight people were killed and several others injured in separate road accidents in Satkhira, Chattogram, Mymensingh, Jashore and Tangail districts.
Our Satkhira Correspondent reports a college student was killed after being crushed under the wheels of a truck at Nawabenki Bazar of Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira district around 9.30am on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Palash Aulia, 17, son of Bhola Aulia and a resident of Jelekhali village under Munshiganj union of the upazila. He was a student of Class 11 of Nowabenki College.
Our Jashore Correspondent writes a truck driver was killed and two others were injured after the vehicle lost control and hit a roadside tree in Sadipur area of Jashore-Magura road 7:00am on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Arijul Islam, 30. Two people, including the helper of the truck, were injured.

Our Tangail Correspondent reports a driver and his helper were killed as their covered van hit a lorry on Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Pouli area of Kalihati upazila in Tangail district around 5:30am on Saturday.
The driver of the covered van was identified as Alamgir Hossain, hailed from Jashore district, while the details about the helper of the vehicle could not be known immediately.
The front part of the covered van was smashed, leaving the driver and the helper of the covered dead on the spot, he said.
Our Mymensingh Correspondent adds an elderly couple was killed in a road accident on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway of Amtali area under Habirbari union of Bhaluka upazila in Mymensingh district around 11:15pm on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Abbas Ali Dewan, 60, and his wife Hazera Khatun, 50, residents of Kalmegha village in Sakhipur Upazila of Tangail.
Confirming the matter, Bhaluka Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shah Kamal Akanda said the duo faced the tragic accident while they were going to visit their grandchilds house at Amtali area in Bhaluka. On the way, a bus ran over them while they were crossing the road, leaving them dead on the spot. Police seized the bus but the driver managed to escape.
