Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed is going to upper court against the lower court's order regarding the freezing of his and his family members bank accounts.
Necessary documents are being prepared in this regard, said his lawyer and Supreme Court Bar Association's general secretary Shah Manzurul Huque.
Benazir Ahmed's lawyer said before confiscating the properties or freezing the accounts of any individual, he or she must be served notice. But, it was done here. So, a petition will be submitted to the High Court against the lower court's order regarding freezing the bank accounts.
He also said it is being said that the moveable and immovable properties of Benazir Ahmed don't match with his income. But, he may have an explanation about how acquired his wealth. "We will inform the court about it soon," he said.
On the other hand, an official of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) said on Sunday that they were taking preparation to submit a petition to the court seeking restrictions on Benazir and his family members leaving the country.
Expressing anonymity, the ACC official said the anti-graft watchdog is going to seek the court 's directives so that Benazir and any of his family members cannot leave the country.
