The Chamber Court of the Appellate Division on Monday stayed a High Court order that barred Monowar Hossain Dipjol from performing duty as the general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association.
As a result, there is no bar for him to perform duties as the associations general secretary.
Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice M Enayetur Rahim passed the order after hearing on a petition filed by Dipjol for staying the operation of the HC order.
Earlier, on May 20, the HC imposed a ban on renowned Bangla film actor Monowar Hossain Dipjol from discharging his duties as the general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association for the 2024-26 term.
At the same time, the High Court ordered an investigation into the irregularities in the election of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association.
The High Court bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zinat Haque passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed in this regard.
On May 15, actor Nipun Akter, the defeated general secretary candidate, filed a writ petition in the High Court seeking the annulment of the 2024-26 elections of the Bangladesh Cholochitro Shilpi Samiti.
