Garment workers block Dhaka-Mymensingh highway for due salary

Workers of Mifkif Apparel Ltd in Gazipur started demonstration on Tuesday morning for due salaries blocking Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.

Around 9am, the garment workers took position at Khan Para area under Tongi's West Police Station. Form there, they again took position in front of former mayor Jahangir Alam's house.  
The angry workers brought out a procession from Gazipur's Sataish demanding their due salary of the month of April. Then vehicular movement on the east side of the highway came to a standstill following the protest, causing immense suffering of the commuters.

Police are trying to take the situation under control, said additional superintendent of Gazipur industrial police Mosharraf Hossain.
