Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) organized a seminar on "Multi-hazard Resilient and Equitable Tomorrow's Cities" in the academic Council room of the university on Tuesday.
CUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Rafiqul Alam was present as the chief guest at the seminar.
In the speech of the chief guest, Prof Dr Rafiqul Alam said that to build a developed Bangladesh, development has to be sustainable.
''We have to be ready for the future. We have to build an effective system with engineers, technologists and meteorologists on various problems including climate change'', he added.
CUET Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Jamal Uddin Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning and Lead Professor of Tomorrow's Cities Work Package-2 Dr Md Rashidul Hasan, Director of Institute of River, Harbour and Environmental Science Prof Dr Asiful Haque and Deputy Executive Director of NEST-Nepal and Senior Managing Member of Tomorrow's Cities Dr Ramesh Guragain were present on the occasion.
Tomorrow’s Cities research project is being conducted jointly by Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka University, Chittagong Development Authority and Cox’s Bazar Development Authority along with Edinburgh University, UK.
