A woman died after being bitten by a snake in Jhenidah's Kaliganj upazila on Tuesday.

The dead was Anwara Begum, 55, wife of Akbar Ali, a resident of Ishwarba village under the upazila.
Locals said Anwara and her husband Akbar run a tea stall at Ishwarba village. On Tuesday afternoon, Anwara went to bring chalk piled up on one side of the shop to light the stove. At that time, a venomous snake bit her.

She was rescued and taken to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.

Kaliganj Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Azif confirmed the matter.
