Two persons, including a woman, died and another was injured after being electrocuted in Sherpur's Nakla upazila on Wednesday.

The accident took place in the afternoon at Bibirchar Majid Bari under Talki Union of upazila.
The dead were Parveen Begum, 35, wife of Masud Mia, Masud's uncle Firoz Mia, 40, of that village. Feroz Mia's son Rukon Mia, 13, was injured in the accident.

Locals and relatives of the deceased said that a wire of a wooden electric pole was torn in front of the house of Parveen Begum. They alleged that despite repeated complaints to Palli Bidyut Office, instead of fixing the wire, the lineman suggested that the wire be connected by a local mechanic.

On Wednesday, Parveen accidentally came in contact with the wire while she was working. At that time, when his uncle-in-law Firoz and Firoz's son Rukon tried to save her, they also got entangled in the wire.

Later, locals rescued them and took to Nakla Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared the two dead.

Nakla Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Quader Mia confirmed it.
