Nurun Nabi Bhola General Secretary of Scientist Dr MA Wazed Miah Memorial Library on Wednesday demanded removal of Poet Mohammad Nurul Huda from the post of Bangla Academy Director General on the allegation that Huda distorted history of the Liberation War and disrespected Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in his poetry.
Nurun Nabi Bhola placed the demand at a press conference at the Sagor- Runi Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity on Wednesday.
He said, "It doesn matter who Nurul Huda wrote for or against. He has written against the Liberation War. The whole world knows that Bangabandhu declared the Independence. Yet he wrote that Maj Zia declared Independence."
Nurul Huda distorted history of the Liberation War, Bhola said, adding, "He changes colours like a chameleon. During the Awami League regime, he is with the Awami League and during the BNP regime, he was with the BNP."
Freedom Fighter Sahida Begum said, "Nurul Huda used to meet and communicate with Khaleda Zia frequently. By doing this, he became the Director of the Nazrul Institute."
She said, "Poet Nurul Huda wrote poems criticising Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina. But now he declares himself as the biggest Mujib-sena."
Following the press conference, the protesters formed a human chain in front of the National Press Club demanding removal of Nurul Huda.
