Ctg-Coxs Bazar commuter train service called off from Thursday

CHATTOGRAM, May 30: The Bangladesh Railway authority has stopped plying of the commuter train from the port city Chattogram to the tourist town of Coxs Bazar from May 30. The service had been introduced on April 8 as Eid Special train on the route on the ocassion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Bangladesh Railway sources said the authorities had introduced the Eid Special commuter train for the comfort of the home-goers of the region during Eid holidays.

The train service was scheduled to be discontinued after Eid vacation. However, the authortites had extended the schedule twice to May 20 on demand of the passengers and also because the service was profitable. The train service continued till May 30.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Railway authorities have taken the decision of stopping train service on this route for shortage of train drivers.

However, the intercity trains between Dhaka and Coxs Bazar--namely the Coxs Bazar Express and Parjatak Express shall continue to operate.
