UP chairman succumbs to bullet wounds in Rangamati

A local union parishad chairman, who was shot a week ago in Belaichhari Upazila of Rangamati, succumbed to his injuries at Chattogram Medical College Hospital on Thursday night.

The deceased was Atumong Marma, 51, chairman of No. 4 Barathli union in Belaichhari upazila of Rangamati.
Belaichhari upazila parishad chairman Birottom Tanchanga acknowledging the matter said on May 22, miscreants reportedly opened fire aiming him while he was taking preparation for dinner at a house. He got gunshot in his hand and leg.

Locals rescued him and took him to Ruma Upazila Health Complex in Bandarban at 6am next morning.

Later, he was taken to Chattogram Medical College where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday night.
