Two schoolgirls drown in Jhalakathi

Two cousins were drowned in a pond at Nalchity upazila in Jhalakathi district on Thursday evening.

The deceased were Samia Akter, 5, daughter of Jakir Hossain, and her paternal cousin Sabina Akter, 6, daughter of Bacchu Halder, residents of Mukhiya village under Kushangal union of the upazila. They both were students of Mukhiya Government Primary School.
According to the deceased grandfather Harun Hawlader, the duo went into missing from the house in the afternoon. After finding them nowhere, they started searching for them . At one stage, they found their bodies in the pond.

They were taken to Nalchity Upazila Health Complex where the physicians declared them dead, he said.

Nalchity Police Station officer-in-charge Md Murad Ali confirmed the death matter and said that legal actions will be taken in this regard.
