Nine found dead in 6 dists

Nine people including three women and two minor children have been found dead in separate incidents in six districts - Noakhali, Manikganj, Gazipur, Barishal, Narayanganj and Mymensingh, in recent times.

NOAKHALI: Police recovered the half-decomposed body of a fisherman from a pond in Subarnachar Upazila of the district on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Md Ripon, 52, son of late Md Habib Ullah, a resident of Ward No. 8 Charmakchhumul Village under Mohammadpur Union in the upazila. He was a fisherman by profession.

Police sources said Ripon and his brother-in-law Jamal went to catch fish in the Meghna River from the house on Tuesday night last. Later on, Jamal returned the house alone on Wednesday noon.

His wife saw the blood-stained in the dress of Jamal at that time. However, Jamal left the house at dawn on Thursday for Chattogram and went into hiding.

Later on, locals spotted the half-decomposed body of Ripon in a pond owned by one Kamal Mia adjacent to the Meghna River in Ward No. 5 under Urirchar Union in Sandwip of Chattogram at around 11 am on Thursday and informed the matter to the police.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Sandwip Upazila Health Complex morgue for an autopsy.

The body bore several injury marks.

Police assumed that Jamal might have killed Ripon and fled away.

Urirchar Police Outpost In-Charge Sub-Inspector (SI) Sayem Mohammad Quamruzzaman confirmed the incident.
    
MANIKGANJ: A woman was found hanging in her room in Sadar Upazila of the district on Thursday morning.

Police recovered the body from a house in Porra area of the upazila at around 9 am.

The deceased was identified as Saleha Aktar, wife of lawyer Abdullah Al-Rajab, a resident of that area.

It was known that there was a longstanding dispute between Abdullah and his wife Saleha over Abdullahs extramarital affairs.

Saleha locked herself inside a room in the house and hanged herself with a veil from the ceiling after an altercation with her husband over the issue on Thursday morning

On information, police went there and recovered her hanging body from the room.

The body was, later, sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

It was assumed that she might have committed suicide out of huff with her husband.
 
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Manikganj Sadar Police Station (PS) Habil Hossain confirmed the incident, adding that the actual reason behind her death would be known after getting the autopsy report and necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
 
KALIGANJ, GAZIPUR: Police recovered the body of a man from the side of a highway in Kaliganj Upazila of the district on Thursday morning.

The identity of the deceased, aged about 40, could not be known immediately.

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in Gazipur is working to find out identity of the youth.

Kaliganj PS OC Mahatab Uddin confirmed the matter on Thursday noon.

The OC said that locals saw the body of the man lying on the island on the Asian highway in Panjora Darjibari area under Nagari Union in the upazila in the morning and informed police.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

The body bore several injury marks on its head and neck.

Police suspected that the deceased might be an easy-bike driver, and miscreants, posing as passengers, killed him while trying to snatch his easy-bike, the OC added.

Kaliganj Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Asaduzzaman also visited the scene.

BARISHAL: The body of a fisherman, who went missing in the Kirtankhola River in the city while catching fish during Cyclone Remal, was recovered on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Md Jahangir Gharami, 22, son of Barek Gharami of Ward No. 11 Bangabandhu Colony in the city.

The deceaseds family sources said Jahangir was an epilepsy patient. At around 10 am on Monday, he went to the river to catch fish amid the cyclone, and had been missing since then.

Later on, locals spotted his body floating in the river at around 3 pm on Tuesday and informed police.

Being informed, River police recovered the body and handed it over to the deceaseds family members after completion of legal procedures.

Barishal Sadar Naval PS OC Abdul Jalil confirmed the incident.

NARAYANGANJ: A schoolboy and a woman were found dead in separate incidents in the district in four days.

Police recovered the floating body of a schoolboy from a canal in Siddhirganj area in the city on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Md Anas, 14, son of Alhaj Almas, a resident of Mijmiji TC Road area of Siddhirganj. He was a ninth grader at Rebati Mohan Pilot School.

Quoting the deceaseds family members, Siddhirganj PS OC Abu Bakar Siddique said Anas went out of the house to attend an exam in the school on Monday. As the exam was cancelled due to the cyclone Remal, he was supposed to return home, but had been missing since then.

Later on, locals spotted his body floating in the DND Canal on Tuesday morning and informed police.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene.

However, an unnatural death case was filed with Siddhirganj PS and legal action would be taken if any complaint is received from the deceaseds family, the OC added.

On the other hand, police recovered the body of a woman from beside a road at Fatullah in Sadar Upazila on Saturday afternoon.
The identity of the deceased, aged about 45, could not be known immediately.
 
Police sources said locals spotted the body of the woman lying beside a road in Pilkuni Peyara Bagan area of Fatullah in the afternoon and informed the matter to police.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Narayanganj Victoria General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Locals said the woman was mentally imbalanced and used to roam around the area.

Fatullah Model PS SI Rafiqul Islam confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are trying to identify the deceased and the actual reason behind her death would be known after getting the autopsy report.

MYMENSINGH: Police recovered the dead bodies of a woman and two children from a pit of a fallow land in Trishal Upazila of the district recently.

The bodies could not be identified immediately as those were mutilated, said a police official.

Locals said they spotted the bodies of the trio in Kakarchar Nayapar area of the upazila and informed police.

On information, police recovered the bodies from the scene and sent those to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsies, said Shamim Hossain, additional superintendent of police (ASP).

Police assumed that the bodies were buried after killing them nearly a week ago.

However, the law enforcers are investigating the matter and trying to identify the deceased, the ASP added.
