One held with arms in Rajshahi

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an auto rickshaw driver along with two one-shooter guns and gunpowder from Kosba area in Rajshahi city on Friday night.

The arrested person is Rakibul Islam, 23, a resident of Foradpur village at Godagari upazila in Rajshahi district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of elite force conducted a raid in Kosba area under Damkura Police Station and arrested him. RAB recovered two one-shooter guns and two kilograms of gunpowder from his auto rickshaw, said RAB-5 official.

RAB said Rakibul mainly is an arms trader. He had been collecting arms and gunpowder from different bordering areas in the country and selling those several areas including Rajshahi.

A case was field against him under the Arms and Explosive Act with the police station, the RAB official added.
