IMO secretary general visits Ctg port

Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Arsenio Antonio Dominguez Velasco visited Chittagong Port on Sunday.

High Commissioner of Bangladesh to UK Saida Muna Tasneem and IMO secretary general were received by Chittagong Port Authority Chairman Rear Admiral Md Sohail and others senior officials at the port.
They inspected the EMU activities, Safety & Security activities of the river port from the boat club. Besides, he attended a meeting on the sea port of Bangladesh at 10 am.

Arsenio Dominguez was elected as the Secretary-General of the IMO in January. Bangladesh is the first Asian country where he visited after taking office.

IMO Secretary general Arsenio Dominguez said greatly appreciate the contribution of Chittagong Port to the international maritime sector and economic development of the country. IMO as its member state is working to protect the interests of Bangladesh. He called for the speedy implementation of the Hong Kong Resolution on Maritime Affairs. After the meeting, he inspected the operational activities of Chittagong Port.

Director General of Shipping Department, Managing Director of BSC, Members of Chittagong Port Authority, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Shipping SM Mustafa Kamal and Deputy Secretary Syed Ali Ahsan, Principal Officer of Mercantile Marine Department, Senior Officials of various Government Departments, Heads of Departments of Chittagong Port Authority, member of the delegation were also present on the occasion.
