After a 2-1 fiasco against the USA, Bangladesh suffered a 60-run defeat in a warm-up match against India at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York on Sunday before starting their journey to the ICC Mens T20 World Cup 2024.

As per ICCs bylaws, all 15 members of both teams could take part in the practice match to assess all their batters and bowlers, though India missed Virat Kohli as he joined the team practice late.

India won the toss and opted to bat first but lost opener Sanju Samson early, who departed for one off six balls. Skipper Rohit Sharma scored 23 runs. India sent Rishabh Pant at three in the absence of Kohli.

Pant hammered the Bangladesh bowlers to pile up 53 off 32 balls with four boundaries and as many sixes before being retired out.

Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya were equally aggressive to score 31 and 40 runs respectively from 18 and 23 balls.

Shivam Dube scored 14 and Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten with four runs as India posted 182 runs on the board losing five wickets.

Bangladeshs bowling changes were surprising as they used eight bowlers in the match, but key weapons Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed did not bowl a single delivery. They used three spinners in the powerplay overs, allowing India to score quickly.

Shakib Al Hasan, Sheikh Mahedi Hasan, Tanvir Islam, Rishad Hossain and Mahmudullah all bowled, delivering 14 overs combined.

Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Sakib and part-timer Soumya Sarkar were the pacers to bowl the remaining six overs.

Among the Bangladesh bowlers, Shakib went wicketless conceding 47 runs in his four overs. Mahmudullah, Mahedi, Shoriful and Tanvir took one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 183 runs, Bangladeshs batters continued their poor display as Soumya Sarkar and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto both departed for ducks and Liton Das managed only six runs.

Tanzid Tamim and Tawhid Hridoy also failed with the bat and got out scoring 17 and 13 runs respectively.

The two most experienced Bangladesh batters Shakib and Mahmudullah then came in. They played an 80-run partnership for the 5th wicket but can be criticized for their poor strike rate, especially Shakib, who took 34 balls to score 28 runs.

Mahmudullah on the contrary, played his style with a 40-run knock off 28 deliveries with four fours and a six.

However, none of the later batters could contribute significantly, as Bangladesh managed only 122 runs for nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
