The cabinet has approved a decision to relocate the Shahbagh Police Station from its present location.

This decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office on Monday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Cabinet secretary Md Mahbub Hosen informed this while briefing reporters after the meeting.
The police station will be relocated to the current location of the Sakura restaurant, near the Hotel Intercontinental intersection, due to the construction of Swadhinata Stambha (Independence Monument) Project in the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.

Earlier, the Ministry of Liberation War proposed removing the police station in a cabinet meeting on Monday.
