Minor drowns in Patuakhali

A minor child drowned in a pond at Bauphal upazila in Patuakhali district on Monday afternoon.

The deceased was Sumaiya Akter, 2, daughter of Md Shawkat Hossain, a resident of Choto Dalima area under Najirpur union of the upazila.
According to the family members, Sumaiya slipped into the pond while she was playing on the bank of the waterbody.

Sensing her absence, family members searched for her and found her in the pond.

She was rescued and taken to Upazila Health Complex where the physicians decalred her dead.
