The Cabinet on Monday gave its final approval to the draft of Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation (BFIDC) Act, 2024 following the judgment of the Supreme Court to legalise the important ordinances issued during the military rules tenure from 1975 to 1990.
The decision was taken in the regular weekly Cabinet meeting held on Monday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair at her Tejgaon office.
The meeting also cleared the drafts of National Bio-Safety Policy, 2024 and Dredging and Dredged Materials Management Guideline, 2024.
A press briefing held at Secretariat after the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain informed the decisions taken in the meeting.
The meeting also approved the drafts of two protocols to be signed between Bangladesh and Netherlands and Bangladesh and Mauritius to waive the duel taxation system. The protocols would be ratified soon.
In the meeting, the Prime Minister asked the authorities concern to include the Director General of the Directorate of Health Services in the National Bio-Safety Committee.
In response to a query over the rehabilitation of cyclone Remal victims, the Cabinet Secretary said that the PM is monitoring the matter herself. Once the final damage list is prepared, the victims will be given necessary supports.
