This years theme of the Day is - "Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience."
To mark the Day, different programmes were organized in districts including Narayanganj, Kishoreganj, Panchagarh, Pirojpur and Rangamati.
NARAYANGANJ: On this occasion, the district administration and District Department of Environment (DoE) jointly organized different programmes in the city.
A colourful rally was brought out from the deputy commissioner (DC) office premises in the morning, and it ended at the same place after parading the main streets of the city.
After the rally, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the DC office.
Narayanganj DC Md Mahmudul Haque was present as the chief guest while Deputy Director of District DoE Muhammad Hafizur Rahman presided over the meeting.
District Civil Surgeon Dr AFM Mushiur Rahman, Additional DC (ADC) (General) Sakib Al Rabbi, and Additional Superintend of Police (ASP) Ruhul Amin attended the programme as special guests.
Assistant Director (AD) of DoE Sheikh Mozahid, Arif Mihir of District Rover Scouts and Pradip Das of Pravati Samajkalyan Sangstha, among others, were also present at the programme.
KISHOREGANJ: In this connection, different programmes were organized in the district.
District Mohila Parishad formed a human chain at Shahid Syed Nazrul Islam Chattar in the town.
Then, a discussion meeting on the significance of the Day was held there.
District Mohila Parishad President Advocate Maya Bhowmic presided over the meeting.
District Mohila Parishad General Secretary (GS) Atia Hossain, its Assistant GS Bilkis Begum, Organising Secretary Jahanara Islam, and Finance Secretary Hasina Haider Chamili, among others, also spoke at the programme.
District administration and Paribash Rakkha Moncha (Porom) also arranged discussion meetings marking the Day.
PANCHAGARH: To mark the Day, the district administration and District DoE organized different programmes in the town.
ADC Abu Sayed inaugurated the Days programme by blowing colourful balloons on the Collectorate Bhaban premises in the morning.
Later on, a colourful rally was brought out from there, and it ended at the same place after parading the main streets of the town.
After the rally, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the DC office.
ADC Abu Sayed presided over the meeting, where District DoE AD Yusuf Ali presented the main article.
ASP SM Shafiqul Islam, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman SM Shahnewaz Pradhan Shubo, Panchagarh Municipality Mayor Zakia Khatun, Freedom Fighter (FF) ATM Sarwar Hossain, Vice-President of District Branch of Bangladesh Parishbesh Andolon (BAPA) Kazi Maksedur Rahman, and senior journalist and environment activist Shahidul Islam Shahid, among others, also addressed the programme.
The speakers called for more enforcement of the law along with awareness to protect the environment.
Besides, District Shishu Academy also organized a drawing competition for children.
On the occasion of the Day, Panchagarh District Branch of BAPA, its Tentulia Upazila Branch, Sabuj Andolan, RDRS Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Friends also arranged similar programmes.
PIROJPUR: In this connection, different programmes were organized in the district.
The district administration brought out a rally from Pirojpur Circuit House premises in the morning, which ended on the DC office premises after parading the main streets of the town.
Later on, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the DC office.
Pirojpur DC Mohammad Jahedur Rahman was present as the chief guest while ADC (General) Madhubi Roy presided over the meeting.
SP Muhammad Shariful Islam, PPM, attended the programme as the special guest.
District Primary Education Officer Kumaresh Chandra Gashi, Principal of Aftabudin College Shahdeb Chandara Paul, Joint Director of National Security Intelligence (NSI) Md Abdul Quadar, FF Goutam Chowdhury and journalist Moniruzzman Nasim, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
After the discussion, the DC along with others planted saplings of different trees on the DC office premises.
RANGAMATI: To mark the Day, different programmes were organized in the district.
The district administration arranged a discussion meeting in the conference room of the DC office in the town at around 10 am.
Rangamati DC Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan presided over the meeting.

ADC (General) Md Saiful Islam, ASP (Sadar Circle) Md Jahidul Islam, Senior Journalist Sunil Kanti De, President of Journalist Forum Nandan Debnath, and former member of the Zilla Parishad Moniruzzaman Mohsin Rana, among others, were also present at the programme.
