Child dies as truck runs him over in Chuadanga

A 10-year-old child died after being run over by a truck at Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga district on Thursday evening.

The victim Rakibul Islam, a class three school student and the son of Johurul Islam from Bashati Para, was plucking blackberries with other children when the incident occurred. Afraid of a dog, Rakibul started running and was run over by the truck while crossing the road.
He was taken to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where the duty doctor declared him dead.

Alamgir Kabir, officer-in-charge of Damurhuda Model Police Station confirmed the matter.

The truck has been seized, but no formal complaint has been filed over the matter, he said.
