Around 7:30 pm (after Maghrib), the date of the moon sighting of Zilhajj month of 1445 Hijri and the holy Eid-ul-Azha will be decided in the meeting of the National Moon-Sighting Committee at the meeting room of Islamic Foundation in Baitul Mukarram.
Religion Minister Md Faridul Haque Khan will preside over the meeting.
Islamic Foundation has informed this in a press release.
If the moon of the holy month of Zilhajj also spelled as 'Dhul-Hijjah or Zu al-Hijja' of Hijri 1445 is sighted anywhere in the sky of Bangladesh, the people concerned have been requested to inform through the telephone numbers 02-223381725, 02-41050912, 02-41050916 and 02-41050917 and send fax at 02-223383397 and 02-9555951.
If the moon is sighted on Friday, the month of Zilhajj will start counting from Saturday (June 8). In this case, Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in Bangladesh on June 17 (10 Zilhaj). If the moon is not sighted, the 30th day of the month of Zilkad will be completed on Saturday. In that case, counting of Zilhajj month will start from next Sunday (June 9), Eid will be celebrated in the country on June 18.
On the other hand, the moon of the holy month of Zilhajj was sighted in Saudi Arabia. As a result, Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in the country on June 16. This Holy Hajj will be held on June 15.
