Woman held with 52-kg hemp in city

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an alleged female drug peddler along with 52 kilograms of hemp from Dohar upazila in Dhaka early Friday.

The arrested woman is Sonia, 35, a resident of  Banaghata area in the upazila.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-10 conducted a raid in the Doharghata area of the upazila around 2:30 am and detained Sonia. At that time, they recovered 52 kilograms of hemp from her possession, said an official of RAB-10. 

RAB-10 said that the estimate value of the seized drugs is TK 15,60,000.
"She was handed over to Dohar Police Station after filing a case against her under the Narcotics Control Act with the police station," said the RAB official.

She had been collecting drugs from various bordering areas of the country and supplying those across the country as well as in Dhaka, he added.
