A man was shot and hacked to death allegedly by his rivals over establishing supremacy at Muradpur in Narayanganj's port on Friday afternoon.

The incident happened at Ward No 27 in Narayanganj city corporation.

The deceased was identified as Moniruzzaman Monu, 42, son of Kamal Uddin, a resident of Ward  No 27 in Narayanganj City Corporation's Muradpur area.

According to locals, Monu was a terrorist in the Muradpur area. One of his family members, Abul, had been killed in a police crossfire. Besides it, Monu's brother Nurujjaman Nura, Babul Aktar, and elder sister Nilufa were murdered by members of the rival terrorist group.
Minhaj, Monu's son, said that a group of 10-12 people, led by Nura Mia's three sons, Mitu, Titu, and Monir, shot Monu's head and stabbed him, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Golam Mostafa, officer-in-charge of  Narayanganj Bandar Police Station, said that Moniruzzaman Monu was killed by locals of the opposition faction due to past enmity.

Efforts are ongoing to arrest those involved in the incident, he added.
