England have won the toss and opted to field against their Ashes rival Australia in the 17th match of
ICC Men's
T20 World Cup 2024 at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown in Barbados on Saturday.
Australia have made one change in the playing XI as Pat Cummins replaces Nathan Ellis while England remain unchanged.
England are eyeing to win the must-win game against the confident Australians as their first match was a washout at this venue but it did give some anxious moments for Jos Buttler's men. Reduced to a 10-over affair, they allowed Scotland to smash their way to 90 for 0 and would've probably struggled to chase the revised DLS target of 109 runs.
On the other hand, Australia overcame starting hiccups as they downed Oman by 39 runs. It has been a slow start for both teams and they've both watched a slew of upsets in the other groups over the past few days.
Momentum is an often used key word in sport and it certainly holds significance in a tournament as short as the T20 World Cup. The Kensington Oval has produced surfaces on the slower side and today's match is the venue's final game of the league phase.
