An argument ensued between constable Monirul Islam and Kawsar Ahmed, who were on-duty near the Palestinian embassy in the capital's Baridhara area.

And at one stage of quarrel, Kawsar opened fire on Monirul, leaving him dead on the spot, said DMP Additional Police Commissioner Dr Khandker Mohid Uddin to reporters on Sunday.
But which made constable Kawsar excited and what the argument matter was, is not clear yet, he added.

"We have no such information that there had an quarrel between the two constables. We have already talked to Kawsar and have found his duty records. He has performed his duty regularly for the last one-two months."

Khandker Mohid Uddin said, "We did not confirm yet what was their argument issue. After investigation, it will be know."

Around 11pm on Saturday night, Kawsar opened fire on Monirul indiscriminately which left Monirul dead and two others also injured.

Injured one who was passing through the area on a bicycle also sustained gunshot wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. And another injured has been identified as Sazzad, who works as a driver for an embassy. Sazzad is now undergoing treatment at United Hospital.

Meanwhile a case has been filed with Gulshan Police Station accusing constable Kawsar.
