Abdullah Al Mamun, popularly known as
TikTok star Prince Mamun (25), has been sent to jail on charges of
rape of a woman on Tuesday.
The court of Magistrate Mamunur Rashid,
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court, denied the police's petition for remand and ordered his imprisonment on Tuesday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Crime and Information Department sub-inspector Uttam Kumar confirmed the information.
According to police and court sources, Mamun was arrested on Monday night in Comilla by the a team of police on charges of raping a woman under the pretext of marriage.
On Tuesday, the police produced Mamun before the court, seeking a seven-day remand while Mamun’s lawyers requested the court to dismiss the remand petition and grant him bail.
After hearing both sides, the court rejected both the remand petition and the bail request, ordering Mamun's imprisonment.
Earlier, the victim had filed a rape case against Mamun at the Cantonment Police Station in the capital on Sunday, accusing him of exploiting her by promising marriage.
In her complaint, the woman stated that she met Prince Mamun three years ago through social media platform Facebook. Mamun allegedly built a romantic relationship with her by promising marriage.
The complaint further mentioned that Mamun claimed he had no place to stay in Dhaka. Trusting his words and their relationship, she allowed him to stay at her residence.
The woman added that on January 7, 2022, Mamun began living with her along with his mother. He then allegedly coerced her into having physical relations multiple times against her will by promising marriage.
The woman claimed that despite repeatedly asking about marriage, Mamun kept making excuses to delay it.
On March 14, he allegedly raped her again under the pretext of marriage.
When she brought up the subject of marriage, Mamun became angry and used abusive language. When she contacted Mamun’s parents, they too verbally abused her.
