GOPALGANJ, June 13: The district has been declared free of landless and homeless people after handing over 736 houses on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has made this declaration.
These houses were given under the Asharyan-2 Project in the morning.
The upazila administration handed over the land documents and house keys at a function held in conference rooms of five upazila Parishads of Gopalganj District.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Gopalganj Kazi Mahbubul Alam attended the handing-over function in Tungipara Upazila Parishad Hall.
After the official inauguration by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, DC handed over land certificates, Namjari Khatian, Namjari DCR to 50 beneficiary families of different unions under Tungipara Upazila.
Besides, Additional DC (Revenue) Farhana Jahan Upama handed over land acceptance and other documents to 341 beneficiaries in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Parishad hall.
Besides, 15 in Kotalipara Upazila, 219 in Muksudpur and 111 in Kashiani upazilas got keys and documents.
DC Kazi Mahbubul Alam said, 5,107 houses have been allocated against the demand of 5,107 houses for five upazilas in Gopalganj.
Today all the landless families of the district have received houses through the transfer of 736 houses, he added.
