The holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival of the Muslims, is being celebrated across the country on Monday with due solemnity and religious fervor.

Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated on the 10th of Zilhajj month of the Hizri calendar as Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), on this day, some 4,500 years ago, offered to sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS), who willingly submitted to the will of his father to please Allah.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina extended their greetings to Muslims in the country and worldwide through separate messages on the occasion.

The main congregation in Dhaka took place at the Jatiya Eidgah ground adjacent to the High Court.

Additionally, five Eid congregations are being held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The first jamaat began at 7 am, followed by subsequent sessions at 8 am, 9 am, 10 am, and 10:45 am.
