Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said both judiciary and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in the country are free. Investigation into the corruption of an individual can be pursued whatever powerful is he. After the investigation, he can be sued. It means he will be brought to justice.
He stated it while addressing a press conference on contemporary issues at Awami League President's Dhanmondi political office in the capital on Tuesday.
Obaidul Quader said the prime minister has adopted 'zero tolerance' policy against corruption. The ACC has been given freedom. Whatever powerful an individual is, he will have to face inquiry into his corruption. The ACC will do this.
Also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, Quader said the government doesn't want to throw stone in the dark. No complains of corruption against former DMP commissioner have been received. However, ACC will investigate if there was any corruption and bring him before justice.
Reffering to the allegation by BNP leaders that people could not enjoy Eid festival due to inflation, Quader said such a remark by BNP leaders was not correct.
"In spite of inflation, 1.04 crore of cattle and goats have been sacrificed. More than 3 lakh animals were sacrificed this year compared to last year. BNP leaders' remark that Eid celebration was affected due to inflation is not rtight.
Obaidul Quader said BNP and its supporters are trying to turn the country into Sri Lanka through criticism. Inflation is there, but Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been trying her best to reduce it.
Throwing challenge to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam's remark regarding Myanmar, Obaidul Quader asked how did they (Myanmar government) attacked the sovereignty of Bangladesh? The Myanmar government has not violated the sovereignty of Bangladesh, he said.
