Police recovered the bodies of a a husband and wife from Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar district on Wednesday morning.

The law enforcers suspect that the couple, Ruby Akter, 19, daughter of Kamal Hossain, a resident of Uporer Khil, and her husband, Nur Mohammad, 28, from Chattogram's Rauzan upazila, was murdered by unknown assailants late Tuesday night.
Locals spotted their bodies at the in-law's house of Nur Muhammad at Uporer Khil area under ward No. 6 of Eidgar union in the upazila and informed police.

On information, police recovered the blood-stained bodies from the spot and sent these to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy after finishing preliminary investigations, said Ramu Police Station officer-in-charge Abu Taher Dewan.

According to locals, the couple had been married for two and a half months and Nur Mohammad had been residing at his in-laws' house since the marriage.

Stating the incident as a premeditated attack, the OC said, "We are investigating to identify the perpetrators and uncover the actual reasons behind this heinous crime.".

Initial suspicions suggest that the attack occurred between 2am and the early hours of the morning amidst heavy rainfall which may have helped the assailants evade immediate detection, he said.

Legal actions will be taken upon investigation, added the OC.
