2 killed as bus hits three-wheeler in Faridpur, 8 hurt

Two passengers on a three-wheeler were killed and at least eight others were injured after a bus hit the vehicle in Faridpur early Friday.

The accident took place at around 12:30am in Modhukhali Bazar area on the Dhaka-Magura Highway.

The deceased were identified as Sumon Ali, 38, and Siraj Howladar, 60. Sumon hailed from Jhalakathi and Siraj from Barishal Sadar.

A Dhaka-bound Purbasha Paribahan bus left its own lane and rammed the three-wheeler in the Magura-bound lane when the three-wheeler entered the highway from Baliakandi link-road, leaving two dead on the spot, said Md Miraj Hossain, officer-in-charge of Modhukhali Police Station.   
 
The injured were rescued and admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital.
The bus has been seized and legal action will be taken in the incident, the police official added.
