Eight shops, one house gutted in Barishal fire

Eight shops and one house were gutted in a fire that broke out in Banaripara upazila of Barishal district on Thursday. No casualties were reported in the incident.

The incident happened at Uttarpar bazar in the upazila around 7:30 am.

Anwar Hossain, team leader of Banaripara Fire Service and Civil Defence Station, said the fire broke out in a pharmacy in the market due to an electric short-circuit. The flames engulfed the adjacent seven other shops and one house within a short time.

On information, two firefighting unit rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after two hours of effort.
Eight shops and one house were completely gutted in the fire, Anwar Hossain added.
