India star Virat Kohli scripted history by becoming the first batter to score 3000 runs in ICC Men's World Cups, spanning both ODI and T20I formats.

Kohli achieved this milestone during his 37-run innings against Bangladesh in the ongoing T20 World Cup on Saturday (June 22).
Kohli exhibited glimpses of his vintage form, scoring 37 runs off 28 deliveries in the Super 8 match against Bangladesh. Kohli's innings featured a four and three massive sixes, leading to a strike rate of 132.14. This performance was a much-needed return to form for Kohli, who had faced a lean patch in previous games.

Kohli is the leading run-scorer in ICC T20 World Cup history, amassing 1,207 runs in 32 matches at an impressive average of 63.52 and a strike rate of 129.78. His remarkable consistency includes 14 half-centuries, with his highest score being an unbeaten 89*.

Kohli’s prowess in T20 World Cups is highlighted by his 'Player of the Tournament' awards in 2014 and 2016. In the 2014 campaign, he scored 319 runs in six matches at an astonishing average of 106.33, including four half-centuries, with a strike rate of 129.15.

In the current tournament, Kohli has accumulated 66 runs in five games, averaging 13.20 with a strike rate of 108.19, with his best score being 37.

Kohli's excellence extends to the 50-over World Cup format as well. He is the second-highest run-scorer in the history of the tournament, with 1,795 runs in 37 matches and 37 innings at an average of 59.83 and a strike rate of 88.20. His World Cup career includes five centuries and 12 fifties, with a top score of 117.

During the 2023 50-over World Cup held in India, Kohli delivered a career-best performance, earning the 'Player of the Tournament' award by scoring 765 runs in 11 matches at an average of over 95, including three centuries and six fifties.

He broke Sachin Tendulkar's record for the most runs in a single World Cup edition, tallying 765 runs against Tendulkar's 673 in 2003.

Overall, in both the T20 and 50-over World Cups, Virat Kohli has played 69 matches, scoring 3,002 runs in 67 innings at an average of 61.26. His record includes five centuries and 26 fifties, with his highest score being 117.
