Committee formed over Barguna bridge collapse

Barguna district administration has formed a six-member probe committee to investigate the accident that occurred after a microbus carrying a wedding party plunged into a canal after a bridge collapsed in Amtali, Barguna on Saturday, killing nine people.

Barguna Additional Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Animesh Biswas have been made the convener of the committee while Amtali Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ashraful Alam has been made the member secretary.
 
The other members are -- the executive engineer of Barguna Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), the additional police superintendent of Amtali-Taltali circle, Barguna’s BRTA assistant director and the deputy assistant director of the Fire Service.

The committee has been asked to submit the report within the next seven days.

Barguna Deputy Commissioner Rafiqul Islam formed the committee on Saturday.

On Saturday afternoon, a microbus carrying 17 people of a wedding party plunged into a canal  after a bridge collapsed in Amtali, Barguna on Saturday.  Nine people were killed and three others remained missing in the incident. Among the deceased seven people were members of a family.
