He was lastly seen at an interview in a private television channel on the second day of Eid on June 18.

Several Customs officials, who are closed to Matiur, said, "Matiur Rahman fled through Akhaura land port on Sunday afternoon."
Matiur was absent in his officer when it opened after Eid-ul-Azha. The whereabouts of Matiur could not be known since he came in limelight over goat scandal.

As per planning, the ex-NBR official may go to Dubai directly from India. An influential syndicate assisted him in his exodus.

It was learnt that, Mushfiqur Rahman Ifat, whose video of buying a goat for Tk 15 lakh went viral, his sister Iftima Rahman Madhobi and their mother Shammi went to Malaysia through Chattogram airport after Eid. Ifat is Matiur's second wife's son.
