India skipper Rohit Sharma went all guns blazing against the rival Australia hitting 92 from 41 balls which led the men in blue to set 206 runs as target in the Super Eight encounter of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024  at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia on Monday.

Team India’s encounter witnessed a performance that was necessary for them as Rohit Sharma led by example and helped the team to post a competitive total. The Indian skipper was in the mood on the day and started playing some aggressive cricket right from the start after being put to bat first by skipper Mitchell Marsh.

After losing out of form Virat Kohli on a duck courtesy of a Josh Hazlewood delivery in the beginning, Rohit Sharma went all guns blazing against the Aussie bowlers, hitting Mitchell Starc for a massive 29 runs in the 3rd over. His fiery knock saw him completing his half-century in just 19 deliveries which got him this tournament’s fastest fifty so far.

However, the moment all of the Indian fans were waiting for didn’t arrive as the Hitman fell just 8 runs short of his 6th T20 international hundred after being dismissed by Mitchell Starc.

Shivam Dube and Suryakumar Yadav continued the proceedings with a brilliant 32-run partnership which complimented their skipper’s knock at the start.

While Suryakumar Yadav scored a well-made 31, Shivam Dube also continued his decent form and scored a 22-ball 28 for the Men in Blue.

Hardik Pandya too contributed well with his bat as his xx-run cameo in the end helped India immensely in their pursuit of a mammoth total.

Team India looked right in the mood to take them to Australia as they ended up posting a humongous total of 205/5 in their 20 overs. Australian bowlers would have expected a better outing with the ball on the day as pacer Starc ended with 2 wickets followed by Hazlewood and Stoinis who ended up with 1 wicket each.
