Two people were killed and other two were injured after a head-on collision between a truck and a three-wheeler in Patiya upazila of Chattogram district early Tuesday.
The accident occurred around 1:45 am on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway near Vollapara bridge in the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Sufi Alam, 25, son of Omor Faruque, a resident of Satkania upazila, and Nuruzzaman, 19, son of Firoz Miah, hailed from Kishoreganj district.
Locals said a Chattogram-bound three wheeler, carrying passengers, collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction, leaving four passengers of the three-wheeler critically injured.
They were rescued and taken to Patiya Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared Sufi Alam and Nuruzzaman dead.
On information, police recovered the bodies and handed them over to their families on Tuesday morning, said Moniruzzaman, sub-inspector of Patiya Highway Police Station.
The vehicles involved in the incident were seized, but the drivers of two vehicles managed to flee the scene, he added.
