Workshop on climate change held in Naogaon

A day-long awareness workshop on dealing with climate change was held in Manda upazila in Naogaon on Wednesday.

A local development organization 'Dabi Moulik Unnoyon Sangstha' and 'Village Education Resource Center (VERC)' organized the workshop at the upazila parishad auditorium.
The workshop was chaired by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sharmin Jahan Luna and attended by Manda Upazila Parishad Chairman Tofazzal Hossain Tofa, Upazila Agriculture Officer Shayla Sharmin, PKSF Manager Fazle Hossain (Farhad), Executive Director of Dabi Moulik Unnoyon Sangstha Ashrafun Nahar, VERC Executive Director Yakub Hossain, Manda Press Club President Nazrul Islam, among others.

In the workshop it was mentioned that due to climate change the incidence of drought is increasing in Barendra area. Discussions were held on various issues that could be encouraged to increase the availability of surface and ground water and increase the cultivation of drought tolerant crops to combat the prevalence of drought.
