Concerns over oil trawler fire in Buriganga

The recent incident involving an oil carrying trawler that caught fire on the Buriganga river in Narayanganjs Fatullah, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon, has raised significant alarm in  local community and requires urgent attention.

According to reports, fire broke out around 1:30pm and was accompanied by explosions from oil drums on board, causing a tremor that reverberated throughout area. It is distressing to learn that four workers were aboard tanker at the time of the incident, with one managing to swim ashore while others remain missing. Response efforts by eight firefighting units to contain and extinguish the blaze are commendable, yet the situation remains critical. The cause of fire is yet to be determined, leaving residents and stakeholders understandably anxious about potential environmental and safety implications.
It is crucial that incidents of this nature are not overlooked, and that steps are taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
