Bus passenger, helper killed after collides with truck in B'baria

Two people were killed in a collision between a bus and a truck in Brahmanbaria's Koshba upazila early Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Raju, 20, son of Md Kashem Miah, and Saif, 21, son of Tajuddin Ahmed. Raju was the bus passenger and Saif was the helper of the vehicle.

The accident happened at about 2am on Thursday on the Cumilla-Sulhet highway, said Khatihata Highway Police Station OC Ashsish Kumar Shanal.

According to the highway police, a bus belonging to 'Bismillah Paribahan' was heading towards Cumilla. When it reached Soidabad area under Kasba upazila, the vehicle tried to overtake a goods-laden truck and hit the truck from behind. Then Raju and Saif fell onto the ground from the bus.

Locals rescued them and took to Brahmanbaria 25-Bed General Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

The bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue, said the OC.

Police were able to seize the bus and the truck but both the drivers managed to flee.
