Two young women die in Joypurhat road mishap

Two young women were killed on Thursday in a road accident in Joypurhat's Sadar upazila.

The accident took place around 7 am in front of Mangalbari Moiz Memorial Degree College on the Joypurhat-Dhamuirhat road.
The dead were NGO employee Juthi Sultana, 22, daughter of Entadul Haque of Imbarpur village under Joypurhat Sadar upazila, and Maryam Begum, 20, wife of Shakil Hossain of Ishua Khatta village.

According to police and locals, in the morning, Junthi Sultana was taking her friend Maryam to Joypurhat Railway Station riding on her own motorcycle. On the way, a stone-laden truck ran over them. Juthi died on the spot and Maryam died after being taken to hospital.

Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Humayun Kabir said the truck was seized but the driver and helper managed to escape. The body were recovered and sent to morgue.
