A case has been filed against Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL)'s former central vice-president Fuad Hossain Shahadat on charge of rape a woman alluring to marry her.
A leader of the Eden College BCL filed the case with the Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-5, Dhaka on Thursday (June 27).
Accepting the confessional statement of the plaintiff, Judge Shamsul Islam of the Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-5, directed the officer-in-charge (OC) of Hazaribagh Police Station to register her complaint as a case.
Public Prosecutor of the tribunal Ali Asgar Shopon confirmed the matter.
It was stated in the case that the plaintiff got admitted to the Department of Finance and Banking at Eden Mohila College in 2013-14 session. She went to TSC with her girlfriends in 2014 where she got acquainted with Fuad. They exchaged each other's phone numbers. They used to talk over cellphones. Then a love affair was developed between them and they visited different places together.
On August 21, 2016, they went to Cox's Bazar. Alluring to marry her, accused Fuad raped the victim several times there. On the following day, they married each other according to Shariah law.
It was further alleged that the victim got impregnated in 2019. When she informed Fuad about it over phone and Whatsapp, he advised her for abortion. But, the victim didn't agree to it. Then at night of November 23 of that year, Fuad offered the victim a glass of juice mixing drug for abortion of her baby.
The victim fell sick after drinking the juice and her baby also died. Then Fuad raped the victim frequently at different places in Dhaka against her will.
In March 2022, the victim put pressure on Fuad to register their marriage. Then Fuad informed her that he was involved in BCL politics. He also assured the victim to register the marriage on conclusion of the BCL convention in 2022.
In 2022, Fuad received the post of vice-president in central Chhatra League. Observing such activities of him, the victim then started contacting with his close relatives.
The relatives told her that Fuad got married with another woman. On January 3 last, the plaintiff again put pressure on Fuad to register their marriage when the BCL leader had raped the victim again. Then he ousted the victim from his house threatening to kill her.
It may be mentioned that Fuad was relieved from the post of BCL vice-president earlier.
