The Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) on Thursday announced a budget of Tk 1,981.52 crore for fiscal 2024-25.
CCC Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury announced the budget at the auditorium of Theatre Institute Chattogram.
In the fiscal year 2023-24) the budget was Tk 1, 887.28 crore, the revised budget of Tk 1,661 crore for the 2023-24 FY was also presented at the meeting. Some 88 per cent of the budget has been implemented.
The mayor said when he took charge as CCC Mayor the debt of the city corporation was Tk 1,075 crore.
After three years of repayment of loans, now the amount of debt of the CCC is Tk 440 crore, he said.
A total of Tk 113.46 crore was deposited as income tax and Tk 134 crore as value-added tax to the national exchequer.
Besides, Tk 18.41 crore has been paid as gratuity and Tk 16.96 crore as provident fund. In 2025, CCC accounting department will come under full automation, the mayor informed the meeting.
He urged the house owners and government institutions to pay taxes regularly to help to build an aesthetic, clean, green, warterlogging-free and livable city.
