A bus of 'Star Line Paribahan' overturned on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Fakirhat area of Faujdarhat in Sitakunda.
The incident happened around 9am on Saturday. Several passengers trapped inside the bus.
Following the accident, traffic movement on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway was suspended, causing heavy congestion on both sides of the road.
It was learnt that the bus, carrying 20-25 passengers, was going to Feni from the Barapole area of the city.
Assistant Director of Agrabad Fire Service Md Abdul Malek confirmed the incident, adding that three Fire Service units are working to rescue the trapped passengers. Several people have already been rescued and sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for treatment.
MK Monir, an eyewitness, said that the wheel of the bus got punctured and overturned on the road. Several passengers were injured.
