The blood-stained
body of an elderly night guard was recovered from his home at Bijoynagar village under Mirpur upazila in
Kushtia district on Saturday.
Deceased Monir Hossain Moni, 80, was son of late Akubbar and worked as a night guard at the village home of one Abdul Razzak Mithu, who resides in Dhaka with his family.
Locals said Moni guarded the house for over five years and lived alone in an outer room.
Mirpur Police Station officer-in-charge Mostafa Habibullah said locals found Moni missing in the morning and later noticed the blood-stained body lying on his bed through the window when they searched.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said.
Observing the circumstance, it seemed that it was a planned murder, he said, adding that the victim's hands and feet were burnt, and there were injury marks on the head.
Efforts are on to unveil the actual reason behind the death, added the OC.
