Four people including two women were electrocuted in separate incidents in three districts - Narsingdi, Lalmonirhat and Kurigram, on Friday.

NARSINGDI: A woman and her son were electrocuted in Monohardi Upazila of the district on Friday noon.
The incident took place in Charmanadalia Gankulpara Village under Charmanadalia Union of the upazila at around 2:30 pm.
The deceased were identified as Wahida Khatun, 57, wife of Abdul Mannan, and their son Faruk Hossain, 36, who was a fish trader.

According to locals, Faruk came in contact with live electricity when he tried to hang his wet clothes on a wire and got electrocuted.

Seeing her son electrocuted, the mother, who was nearby working, rushed to save him and also got electrocuted. Both of them died on the spot.

Locals also said that the wire had been stretched across the yard from one house to another for drying clothes.

An electrical wire in the house had developed a fault, which electrified the entire house, including the wire.

Rampur Police Investigation Centre In-Charge Mohammad Yusuf Ali stated that upon receiving the news, police visited the scene.

Necessary steps would be taken in this regard, the police official added.

LALMONIRHAT: A college teacher was electrocuted in Kaliganj Upazila of the district on Friday noon.

The deceased was identified as Shamsul Haque, 36, son of late Bodiuzzaman, a resident of Uttar Balapara area in the upazila. He was an English lecturer at Rajarhat Degree College in Kurigram District.

Local sources said Shamsul Haque came in contact with a live electric wire at noon while he was working in his house, which left him critically injured.

Sensing the matter, the family members rescued him, but he died on the way to a hospital.
Local Union Parishad Member Dinobondhu Roy confirmed the incident.

NAGESHWARI, KURIGRAM: A housewife was electrocuted in Nageshwari Upazila of the district on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Momota Begum, 25, wife of Mukul Mia, a resident of Tarirhat Village under Kochakata Union in the upazila.

Local and the deceaseds family sources said Momota Begum came in contact with live electricity in a neighbouring house at around 7:30 am while she touched an auto-rickshaw which was on charge. She was critically injured at that time.
