SYLHET, June 29: The body of a teenager who drowned in the Chengerkhal was recovered from the Motorgate area of Ratargul Swamp Forest on Saturday.

Shamim Ahmed,17, son of Shahjahan Ali from Bagbari in Sylhet city, had gone while bathing in the Chengerkhal River on Friday evening.

Family members said Shamim, along with theee other teenagers, had cycled from Sylhet city to the entrance of Motorgate in the forest.

Instead of proceeding into the forest, they opted to bathe in the Chengerkhal river when Shamim tragically drowned due to strong currents.

On Saturday at around 7 am, authorities recovered Shamims body following a search operation in the area.

Officer-in-Charge Md. Nunu Mia of Sylhet Airport Police Station said local firefighters, with the assistance of residents, retrieved the teenagers body using a net.    —UNB
