Woman 'raped' keeping child at knifepoint, one arrested

Police arrested a man reportedly for raping a young woman keeping her infant child at knife-point at Tarail upazila in Kishoreganj district on Sunday.

The accused Anu Mia, 35, was arrested from his home at Dashdrun village in the upazila.
According to police sources, the victim's husband works in Dhaka and she was staying at her father's house with her nine-month-old child. At around 3am on Sunday, Anu Mia allegedly entered the house, held a knife to the child, and threatened the victim. He then took her near a pond and raped her before fleeing the scene.

Later, the victim lodged a rape case with Tarail Police Station.

Tarail Police Station officer-in-charge Muhammad Monsur Ali Arif said that a case has been filed following the victim's complaint, and the accused has been arrested.

Legal actions will be taken in this regard, added the OC.
